The things that set us apart
I know there are plenty of Harry Potter RPGs and it's hard to know just which one to choose. Sometimes it even seems the same plot is on each and every one of them. Oftentimes it seems the canons are the main focus of the plot and there's no room from original characters to shine. It seems that the word count's always too high or it seems there's none at all and noobs run rampant.
Here at Last Resort we strive to be different from the norm.
The staff is friendly and active and willing to answer any questions, no matter how "insignificant." The members are welcoming and enjoy the opportunity to post with new people. We have roleplayers of all levels, though we have a word count requirement of at least one hundred words. People match each others' lengths and thread sizes vary. Overall, we're a laid back community that's open to whatever comes our way.
We have no canons and the seventh book? Never happened that way. We have our own storyline from prior RPGs as to the history of what happened after book six through the year 2010 summarized in a short timeline, and if you have any questions you need answered before joining, you can easily e-mail us at x_last.resort@yahoo.com or simply ask us the question in our c-box. After joining, it's the same plus the option to PM.
As is bound to happen when creating a character, family members or other people important to the character's history may need to be created. While not considered canons in any way, they are listed as specified by our members in a character ideas thread. You can easily look through the list and find out the basics, if you wish to join but want to be sure you'll have someone to role-play with, though the likelihood of you being ignored either way is slim to none.
Opportunities
Being four months old, we have some sense of establishment. Even when we hit our slow points as all sites are inevitably to have here or there, we have members who check in for new posts. New members aren't forgotten or ignored, and their ideas are welcome. We're always on the lookout for new subplots and character ideas. Don't be afraid to share your ideas or get involved in any current sub-plots.
We have both student and adult characters and different opportunities for both. Currently, we have a sub-plot going on at the school. Someone has killed a female Slytherin student, and the school is abuzz with fear and rumors as to who did it and why. Imperium Guards wander the halls to investigate and protect the students. Reporters swarm to get the latest scoop. Where will you fit in with this?
We're open to various types of characters. We currently have second-in-command (Minister of Magic) open to whoever gets it. PM the admin for details. If dark or twisted is for you, why not play a character who's been imprisoned in Azkaban and subjected to torture for answers as to the whereabouts of the remaining members of the Order of the Phoenix or other rebels from the law or perhaps an interrogator. Form your own renegade group of fugitives. Be a double agent. Play a student whose family is truly against the new regime but too cowardice to do anything about it, and he's sick of being forced to conform. Start a slave rebellion! Help take over the muggle government. The possibilities are endless.
Dark times lie ahead
Imagine a world in which slavery is prominent, the power held by those in charge is abused, and every moment things are staggering on the brink of war.
Imagine a world in which children are deprived an education because of their blood status or the actions of their parents, a world in which only the elite gain knowledge above status quo.
Imagine a world when the unspeakable happens to innocents on a daily basis yet they have no voice to speak up against it and are even further tortured and made examples of for speaking out.
Imagine a time when all hope of things ever getting better seems to have vanished along with those who fought for your freedom and a time when you feel powerless to do anything against so great a foe.
